Windows 7: Random restarting returns

Random restarting returns

I was having problems a few months ago, and I ended up rebuilding my whole system after buying an SSD. I didn't have any problems for a few weeks, then I had the odd random restart, then it got more frequent until now it's back to its old tricks, restarting about every other day, sometimes as often as twice a day. Today was the first time I got a BSOD from it though, so I have something to report on - normally I get no dump logs, BSOD etc, just restarts back into Windows.

(Note that I'm only assuming it's the same problem as the restarting as the computer freezes for about the same amount of time before crashing - it could well be 2 completely unrelated problems.)

Windows 7 is...

Window 7 Enterprise 64bit
System came with Home Premium but I installed Enterprise as I have a VL key.

Age of the system is about 15 months old (with variably newer bits inside). Age of the OS installation is about 2 months, maybe 3 months.

Hi Riquende welcome to SF

Please follow these steps in this order,

Download and install driver sweeper Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

Download the most recent software\driver for your ati AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

Uninstall ati software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper, choose ati and clean any remaining fragments, restart in normal mode.

lnstall the new ati software\driver

Would you recommend reinstalling all of ATI's Catalyst or just the individual drivers?

Good question

Because in some cases catalyst cause troubles we advice to install only the driver for testing purposes, but for now uninstall everything and clean using the above step with driver sweeper, then install full catalyst software\driver.

Almost ready to proceed, just wanted to check that this is the Directx I should be using - seems to be a bit vague, and some of the links on google took me to the Xbox website .

Write on start-search dxdiag and run it,take a screenshot and post it here.

For the screenshot you can use the Snipping Tool,Start\Accessories\Snipping Tool

Click start and write in the search box dxdiag thenat the top of the start menu appears the dxdiag click it to run.

Attached screenshot of the non-x64 version.

I didn't know if the other tabs would be worthwhile, so I dumped both versions into txt as well.

You are just fine,no need to do anything else for the moment.

So work, play as usual and remember to post back with any results.
