BSOD on sleep

Hey all,

A while ago, I started having BSOD's whenever I put my laptop to sleep.
I've included the last 2 minidumps, also updated my wifi driver, but same problem.

Hi Mudtek,

I looked at the dump files but they don't pinpoint a specific driver responsible

Attachment 172202

Information about this bug check can be found here: Bug Check 0x9F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

Without being able to pinpoint a specific driver I unfortunately can't advise which driver you need to update. General instructions that may be able to solve this problem can be found on the MSDN page above.

Please be advised that BlueScreenView isn't always 100% accurate.
And the STOP 0x9F errors are a bit more complicated than other errors.

With XP BSOD's on hibernation/sleep were nearly always due to video drivers - BUT, with Vista/Windows 7 that has changed - so you also have to update chipset and storage drivers along with the video drivers (and it's not a 100% solution anymore).

The memory dumps blame your athrx.sys driver - a component of your wifi software. The date on the wifi driver is from 2010 - where did you get this driver from? What make amd model is your laptop?

We will need this info to perform an in-depth analysis: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

But, since you've updated that driver it's not as likely to be a problem. So let's check other stuff (network related).
I see a lot of mention of your ESET/NOD32 protection and it's firewall in your memory dumps. We have seen a lot of issues with Internet Security applications causing BSOD's.

After you've updated the chipset, video, and storage drivers (and if it doesn't fix things) then do the following:
Quote:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the ESET/NOD32 from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of ESET/NOD32 using this free tool: How do I manually uninstall my ESET security product? - ESET Knowledgebase
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus, then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.

Driver updates didn't do anything, uninstalling AV did fix it.
Trying to install Security Essentials.

EDIT: Still working. Thanks for the help.
