Windows 7: Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working

Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working

Windows 7 Home Premium keeps giving me the above message.

I've run sfc/scannow and that advised me "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them".

I had a look at cbs.logs and the files that could not be repaired are three files much the same as this;

Cannot repair member file [l:22{11}]"PINTLGB.IMD" of Microsoft-Windows-IME-Simplified-Chinese-Core, Version = 6.1.7601.17514, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch
2011-09-02 12:27:55, Info CSI 000000d5 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-i..lified-chinese-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_763763505e93084b\PINTLGB.IMD do not match actual file [l:22{11}]"PINTLGB.IMD"

Does anybody have the faintest idea what any of that means and how I can resolve this issue?

I dare say I can survive without having Chinese on my laptop and any help would be gratefully received.

I' ve the same problem. Since afew weeks my Windows Explorer started crashing regularly. Now it crashes always when I log in to my account on Windows.

I've done the same sfc /scannow and have the same log.

Does anyone know how to repair this corrupted file?

Windows 7 Ultimate

In my case the error was caused because I had deleted a load of games that came pre-installed on my new ASUS laptop. I had used Revo Uninstaller Pro to get rid of them and it seems that in amongst all the deleted files were some I needed to keep in order for Windows Explorer to function correctly.

A System Restore fixed the problem. (Admittedly I now have all the ASUS games back but they don't take up much space and I really haven't got the time - or patience - to go through each one individually to see exactly which deleted file caused the error message and crash).

If you know exactly when you first got the "Explorer has stopped working" message I'd do a system restore to just before that time.

I usually find that if something worked fine yesterday and doesn't today the problem is with something I've done, (an installation, a deletion, a download, etc.), in the intervening period.

Hope you get it sorted out, I know how annoying it is.
