Windows 7: Marvell & Lockups

Marvell & Lockups

Just a heads up and seeking some advice.

I recently switched my Corsair Nova 128 GB SATA II drive over to my Marvell SATA III port after reading of speed improvements.

Everything was fine for the first couple of weeks then I started having lockups and problems with my mouse and keyboard (slow or no response), two weeks later things were getting so bad I couldn't boot up for more than a couple of minutes at best. I tried Memtest+ and my memory was good, uninstalled any new software I had recently installed, reseated everything in my case and checked all the cables, tried another keyboard and mouse. No solution.

Finally, I remembered my drive port switch and plugged back into my SATA II ports. Problem solved!

Unfortunately, I have been looking at buying a new SATA III SSD but now I am not sure what to do. I certainly do not want to spend that much money to have problems but maybe the problem is only with SATA II devices in a SATA III port.

Has anyone else heard of these issues?

Thanks
