Help identify the source of random BSODs - Win7 Ultimate 64x

I have a windows 7 ultimate machine that BSODs every so often. I'd like to know how to identify the source of the crashes but I am unsure how. Where should I start?

Google is swarming with near random results and I do not want to mess with my computer in a manner that might damage it beyond repair.

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3P motherboard and OS was installed fairly recently.
