BSOD on HP laptop, system just ran disk check on startup

Three days ago my girlfriend got a random BSOD on her laptop. This was the first time this has happened on her computer.
Today, I turned on the laptop to start a thread on this forum and the computer ran the disk check at startup.
I dont know if maybe its the ram, as ram errors can slowly damage a HD or what.

Also when I ran perfmon it gave me this error:

"The device, Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller, is disabled. If this device is no longer used it may be intentionally disabled. The Plug and Play ID for this device is 7."

This is listed as a network adapter in device manager. Maybe some sort of conflict caused it to deactivate or BSOD.

Please help.

System Specs:

HP G62 Notebook
i3m 370 2.4ghz dual core with hyperthreading
4 gb ram
AMD hd 6370 graphics, 512 mb vram
Windows 7 home, SP1 64bit

I use microsoft security essentials for anti-virus

Minidump, Jcgriff, and perfmon attached

So I ran memtest 86+ off a CD for 16 hours with no errors. While this result does not completely rule out the memory, I feel we should look into other possibilities as to the cause of the crashing.

I went into device manager and the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller, is disabled.
it says "This device is disabled. (Code 22)"

I updated my video driver.

Any other insights based off of the attached files?

All help is super appreciated.

Thanks!

Please download and run Malwarebytes after a full update of it run a full scan:

Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download

The reason I ask this of you is because you have many errors in your events logs one with mse not responding to updates and such which leads me to think that you may have malware on the system.

Funny that you ask me to do that, I literally just finished a malwarebytes full scan less than an hour ago. No malware detected.

Any other ideas?

If need be I will buy ram just to rule that out.

Thanks for the response again, you seem to be doing a lot of the debugging work today.

+rep for helping everyone, not just me

*edit* it wont let me rep you again sorry

Win 7 64bit Ultimate

So I have run memtest86+, I updated my video drivers, updated and reactivated the realtek rtl8167 FE controller, and I have run full scans with both Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

The computer has not had a bsod again, but I am unsure as to whether the issue is resolved.

As per many other thread instructions, I am strongly considering enabling driver verifier.

If anyone has any more insight into the posted minidump or has advice for a better way to track down my problems, please let me know.

Thanks Again,

MP

I would do just that MP because the dump isn't pointing to a specific driver but enabling driver verifier will..

So I have been running her laptop with driver verifier on for a number of days with no more crashes. The computer seems to be running well and I really have no other way to see whats wrong, so for now I am going to call this solved.

If it bsods again I will open another thread. Thanks everyone for all the help
