BSOD's and problems booting computer.

Hi cherrydrop I'm consulting with another bsod team member on what we should do with your particular situation so please bear with me as we try to determine the next step we should take..:)

We need to get your booting problem under control first so lets try and correct those by following this guide: Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

After running startup repair as suggested by seth500.

Your temps during Prime95 are pretty high, they should be mid 40's for an AMD CPU.

Open your case and check if all the fans are turning, with computer running.

Have you cleaned the inside of you case lately?
Here is an article on cleaning your computer case.

If your HDD is a Seagate, then run Seagate SeaTools – Short Drive Self Test and Long Drive Self Test.

After the above, if the crashes are still happening, we'll need to look at the RAM in more detail.

I apologise for the late reply, I've not had access to a computer for a long time now. For a while the computer completely refused to boot at all it would just beep, thankfully my parents have been kind enough to let me borrow their laptop to help find a solution. I was able to get the computer to boot after not trying for weeks without any trouble, it was only when I shut it down I couldn't get it back on again without the dreaded booting problems I had before.
I had cleaned it out not long ago although not so thoroughly as that link suggests, but from what I saw all the fans were running fine; I believe that the root of this booting problem could be BIOS or motherboard related as one of the times I attempted to boot recently I received this message:

The screen just froze there and beeped like a heart monitor continuously. I don’t know that much about computers but it looks like it’s trying to boot from something that is missing or corrupt which could be the cause of all the freezing and restarting at boot up. Unfortunately it doesn’t let me enter the settings for the BIOS which I’m not sure why, it indicates which button to press to enter them on the HP Invent screen but it normally freezes or doesn’t acknowledge I even pressed it and continues to the next screen.
So now I’m not certain where to go from here, when searching about this problem via Google they suggest flashing the BIOS or removing the CMOS and letting it sit for a while, but I have no idea how to even attempt these things or if it would even be wise.

Another thing that I forgot to mention is that if I am lucky enough to get the computer to boot to desktop, the date and time has been reset and I find I have to set it to the correct time all over again, I'm not sure if that's of any use also.

BIOS ROM Checksum Error indicates the BIOS is corrupt.

Your first post said you were having a short beep and then a long beep, during bootup.
Beep codes common to HP and Compaq Desktop PCs

1 short beep and 1 long beep: Memory problem
Continuous beeping without pause: Serious system related issue such as CPU overheating

What is the age of your computer?

Processor: AMD Athlon™ X2
Model: 5000+
Max Temps (C): 55-68'C

Summary:
Your BIOS is corrupt
CPU is overheating
Memory/RAM problems

These are serious issues, you need to check if the CPU cooler is loose, see if it turns, it should not move.
You should remove the CPU cooler and re-apply the thermal paste.

First remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes, re-install it and see if that helps the BIOS problem.
More than likely you will need to flash the BIOS, this can be a dangerous procedure, if it's not done correctly it can leave your computer un-bootable and may need a new motherboard to resolve it.
If you are flashing your BIOS and the CPU gets too hot and shuts down, it will possible 'brick' the motherboard, meaning it won't be usable.

RAM can be addressed after the two above issues are resolved.

You might want to consider taking it to a computer shop for these repairs.
