Thanks for the reply, Seth!
Based on your information, I've done some digging. There are two webcams in the rig - the webcam integrated into the laptop itself, and the webcam integrated into the monitor.
The latter seems to be the culprit - the monitor is a Dell SP2309W, with an integrated Creative Technologies WebCam. However, I've hit a wall with this.
I've updated the monitor
driver to the most up-to-date Dell SP2309W driver. Looking at my Device Manager, there are two Imaging Devices: an Integrated Webcam with a driver from 2006 and a Monitor Webcam with a driver from the same time. Originally, the Monitor Webcam driver was a Creative Technologies one, but I tried updating, then uninstalling and updating, and I got the BSOD each time. Now, it seems that driver has reverted to a standard driver (the 2006 one is now the same for both devices, leading me to think they both are referring to the same device, perhaps?)
Any advice on next steps - how to remove the devices completely while avoiding a BSOD? Where to find the most up-to-date driver for the monitor webcam (nothing on the Dell or Creative websites that has helped so far)?
Regarding the specs, here you go:
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
- Alienware M14xR1
- InsydeH2O Version 1.0 A04
- 8.00 GB
- WDC WD7500BPKT-75PK4T0
- (1) Realtek High Definition Audio (2) Intel(R) Display Audio (3) Monitor Webcam (4) NVIDIA High Definition Audio (5) NVIDIA High Definition Audio (6) NVIDIA High Definition Audio (7) NVIDIA High Definition Audio (all under Sound Card)
- (1) Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (2) NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1
Further help would be really appreciated!
Thank you so much!
Ivan
PS As a quick update, I just updated the Monitor Webcam driver to a Creative Technology driver from 2008, version 1.1.2.804 (which what it was before I started trying to uninstall it). This seems to be the most up-to-date driver available...
