HD driver error, BSOD boot and startup hangs on welcome screen. . .

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

    Hello 7 forums,

My computer started experiencing crashes and errors a month ago and after receiving the BSOD my computer has failed to start entirely; safe mode hangs on crcdisk.sys, startup hangs on welcome screen and I get the BSOD while booting OS.

I want to erase and reformat my HD.

My question is; if I format my drive on my other PC (Windows Vista Home premium 32bit) or switch out HDs and use my Vista 32bit install disk. . . would I be able to wipe the drive and be able to use it? Or would the drivers be incompatible? Basically my only option is to buy a Vista Home Premium 64bit disk, but I'm considering the alternatives. . . help please?

    Update:

A windows service crashed before the BSOD and welcome screen freeze "IP Helper". I'm confused because the same service crashed on my 32bit. . .

    Bump.

The errors started when I installed the software "PeerGuardian" on my PC.

Remove Peerguardian and install Peerblock. Same software base but PB continued the development of the abandoned PG code.

I've deleted the Peer Guardian folder from Program Files and start up folders and my PC still hangs on the welcome screen. I can't run Backup or System Restore. My hard drive is in another PC, I'm still stumped.
