BSOD, Freezing, Crashing, All the time
Ok, over the summer my motherboard was warped form over heating and I had to ship my laptop to asus, for them to fix it. They reinstalled windows on it (7 home premium 64 bit) so when I got it back I had to re-enter the cd key. But I lost that. So I can still run my computer, and use windows, it just says "Windows 7 build 7600 This copy is not genuine" in the bottom corner of my screen, and I get counter-fitting errors occasionally saying I may be a victim of counter-fitting.
So, that's not really a problem. But, ever since I've gotten it back, my laptop crashes frequently. Sometimes I get BSOD. Most often though, it just freezes, and shuts off, without BSOD. Or, sometimes it freezes, i'll let it sit for 15 mins, and it will take me to the account login screen, and log my account off.
This hasn't happened since I got it back and haven't been able to make my copy of windows 7 home premium genuine (since I can't find the cd key).
Some specs of my computer are:
4gb ram
i7 quad core processor
NVidia Geforce 260M - sometimes my screen will go black, then come back, and I'll get and error saying nvidia stopped working but has recovered ( this doesn't cause a crash though)
also, I am using an air/fan cooling pad. (my previous one broke in the spring, probably why my motherboard over heated and warped) but i've been using a new cooling pad since I got it back, so I don't think that's the problem. (Don't know how to check temps though)
What seems to cause the crash -
This part is kinda tricky, cause sometimes it's just when I'm sitting there. Sometimes it's when I open a game. But sometimes I can run 4 versions of that game and be fine, but then sometimes when I open one it will freeze. Sometimes it will freeze opening 2, 3, or on the 4th.
Sometimes 2 tabs in firefox does it,other times, i'll have 7+tabs for a long time no freeze. Sometimes 7 tabs freezes it though.
So, I'm sorry I can't pin point exactly what is causing it, and I don't have a BSOD error code, because the BSOD has only happened twice (before I thought to come here). I'm not sure if it's windows not being genuine, or if it's too many background programs (which idk how to check for).
