Random BSODs and Intermittent Application Crashes

Hello all, I built this PC myself. Was running fine on XP and Vista before (Although i remember some BSODs but if i kept my system from turning off or restarting everything is fine). Just did a new install of Win 7 Pro x64 SP1. I really don't know where I went wrong.

I would get the same random BSOD's that stops once i keep my PC from restarting or shutting down.

Now it seems like I always get crashes when running applications. And It happens all the time.

Games crash, Even Firefox, Chrome, Skype and all other applications just crash. These happen intermittently.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
MOBO: MSI NF750-G55 AM3
RAM: 8GB GSkill Ripjaws Series (4x2GB)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 460

I think its the videocard driver. Although I need some expert advice. The installation driver that came with the GPU didn't do anything to change the crappy display. Had to wait for windows update to give me an update that fixed the resolution.

Appreciate the help. Thanks
