    BSOD may be audiocard related

    Windows 7 x64
have been running Vista before installing windows 7
    full retal version

the hardware is aproximatly 2½ years old, have not relaced anything

Installed Windows 7 after a full format 2 days ago

    Hello

My problem is actually 2 problems but I suspect they have the same cause.

A while back while I was still running Vista I started getting freezes (not BSOD) only thing I could do was a hard reset. This happened about once every other week but became more and more frequent. I started to notice a pattern. it always occured while watching video, regardless of software (VLC and windows mediaplayer classic)

I thought it was some softwareproblem and as I had been planning to install windows 7 anyway I did a complete reset.

formated my only drive (I have an extern disc aswell though) and installed windows 7. no problems and all was well for about 2 hours. Then it froze again.

It still did it while watching video (even streaming to my ps3)
After some tinkering I was able to narrow it down to when I downloaded torrents. It got worse and worse and soon it frooze almost imidiatly after a torrent client (tried a couple) started downloading.

I did som digging and found out that my external Seagate drive could be the issue ( bad firmware) I updated it and even disconnected the drive. It did not help.

I tried loads of other sollutions including doing a startup in safemode to rule out driverissues (this is inconclusive though as the comp restarted instead of freezing and I dont know if there was even a bluescreen this time as I was not in the room)

I then read that several ppl had problems with torrentclients doing something that conflicted with the soundcard (drivers or hardware I do not know)

I have turned my realtek integrated audiocard off and since then there has been no problems with the computer freezing. What happens now though is BSOD. it tells me something with BAD_POOL_CALLER and then a bunch of numbers and then it sometimes restarts on its own and sometimes not.

It's not very frequently and I can dowload torrents but it still happens every now and then (I should mention I did have this bluescreens once ot twice mixed in with the freezes earlier aswell)

    any input is apreciated!

    I almost forgot

other that the audiocard I do suspect there might be a memory issue. I have preyy much ruled out overheating as I have been monitoring that and even had an extra fan cooling the entire comp =)

    update.

after I reactivated my integrated audiocard it again frooze.

I did a hard reset and deactivated it again and then it was fine until late last night.

I got a BSOD with this info

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and something with the files: ndiswan.sys and ataport.sys
