Random BSOD with new RAM and Soundcard install.

windows 7 ultimate x64 , retail.
computer and install ~1.5 years old.

had to RMA some corsair ram so i bought 2x2gb of patriot ddr3 ram and installed it along with a xonar DG soundcard, started getting bsods.

tried different soundcard drivers, tried removing soundcard hardware, ran memtest for ~ 4 passes and received no errors. i was overclocking the cpu with only the multiplier, but put it back to stock. still bsods.
they occur every other day. rarely 2 in one day of ~ 6 hours of computer usage/day.

any help would be appreciated. I am in college and dont have time to do more research on how to fix this.

thanks in advance!

edit: i also ran prime95 for about an hour with no hiccups. system seemed stable.
note: only the bsod logs from september-october 2011 are relevant. thanks.

Several problems

1-8 year old BIOS. It needs immediate updating

Code:
BIOS64.sys 6/7/2003 8:12:00 PM fffff880`03f4d000 fffff300`03f55000 0xfffffa8000008000 0x3ee27f50
2-Zone Alarm a frequent cause of BSODs' Yours about 2 years old. I would remove it.

3-Old drivers
Code:
BS_I2cIo.sys 12/11/2006 3:48:39 AM fffff880`03f31000 fffff300`03f3c000 0xfffffa800000b000 0x457d0d57

How To Find Drivers:
Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

thank you for the help. i've just updated the bios.

however, the current zonealarm i have running is the most up to date version. do you still recommend uninstalling it?

also, i do not know how to install BS_I2cIo.sys and BS_TPIO64.sys . they are part of my bios update utility and so perhaps they were updated along with my bios? i am unsure.

Hi -

I agree with Ken - get rid of Zone Alarm.

32 of the 34 BSODs named Zone Alarm as the probable cause.

Use Zone Alarm Removal Tool - http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

Here are others that have seen the light after big problems found to be caused by Zone Alarm - http://www.sevenforums.com/680187-post7.html

I don't know why those old BIOS update utility drivers show up in the dumps. I would think if they are for the update utility, they are not needed until the next update; not sure of their exact rЇle, though.

BIOS is current -
Code:
BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc. 080015 , 10/11/2010

Regards. . .
