Random BSODs - RAM related probably

    Hello everyone,

I got long time struggle with one of my friends PC. From very first time he bought it, it started with random BSODs. I ran Mem Test and no error were found. We convinced the seller to change the motherboard but it didn't help. Last 3 weeks I have been testing lots of options: dual channel, single channel, all slots, run only on one module. I found out that PC is more stable, with 1 module then 2. So i switched the cheap modules Micron for better A-DATA Vitesta: [Phoronix] A-DATA Vitesta DDR2-800 Extreme Review

The PC is now runnning with much less BSOD's then before, but it is not satisfaction for me

I have no idea where is the problem now, so before I switch all the parts, could you review my reports? I have installed all latest drivers of course and problem is same on x32 or x64 Windows 7, with clean install or all updates installed.

    Windows 7 x64 Enterprise
    Asus P5K-E
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
    A-DATA Vitesta 2 x 1GB, 800MHz, 2.1 V
    NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GS
    Seagate 500GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II

    Hi panais,

thank you for your help. I did what you suggested. After those steps, there was one more BSOD. Then I noted, there were some hanging MS updates, which couldn't be installed with automatic updates - their installation always ended with errors. I installed them manually. I gained stable PC for 1 week. It restarted only 1x unexpectedly without BSOD. Today I tried to replace my A-data Vitesta RAM modules with default ones from Micron corp. System is unstable again. I made new set of reports. Can you take another look if you can see something obvious, before I buy new set of RAM modules for my friend

    Thank you!

Do a System Restore before the updates installation.

And please always post back with results.

Your problem solved a week ago with the above steps but you didn't reply with news.

Sorry, It popped up in my head, that I should try install the updates manually. Thereafter I have been waiting until next BSOD. Now i can not restore before 16.10. which is after installation of those updates. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

If it was my computer I would run sfc /scannow System File Checker. It can't hurt and might help. Post back results.

I lined up the updates according to date and uninstalled all with date after 10.10. Also, the computer was heavy unstable with 2 Micron modules in dual channel, so I kept only 1 module inside PC and system is now much more stable.
