Windows Explorer crashes with event name BEX
I started new thread because many others around the Web seem to be having the same "BEX StackHash_0a9e" problem.
This is a brand new Dell E6520 with 32 bit Windows 7, and it has done this since new.
Windows Explorer crashes with the event name "BEX". This happens only when the laptop is in a corporate office - not at home. Only difference seems to be:
1. Presence of huge enterprise network at office (hundreds of items in Network folder)
2. I use an external monitor in the office, and
3. A "Y" drive, mapped to an XP box at home, is unconnected in the office. It doesn't seem to be a issue when it's connected but, when disconnected, if I delete the connection crashes seem to happen less often.
Changed view in network folder to "detail view" and turned off all thumbnails there and in all other folders - that seemed to help, too.
Also tried Arthur Xie's solution - didn't make any difference: "Open gpedit.msc (Local Group Policy Editor), locate the branch Computer Configuration\ Windows Settings\ Security Settings\ Local Policies\ Security Options\. Then make a change on the policy Network security: LAN Manager authentication level. Change to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”. (Original setting was "Not Defined".)
Have tried clean boot, sfc, updated all drivers, ShellExView. Running NAV 2011, always updated.
I don't want to have to live with these solutions - I'd rather wipe the machine and install XP!
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
