BSOD 5 times in 3 hours - PlugAndPlay error??

    Hi,

So my laptop (details below) has been crashing with the BSOD at least once a day now for the last few months. It was running Vista so I installed Windows 7, hoping that would help. I stipped everything off it that was unneccessary but she's still BSOD'ing me. This week she's been doing it more - today BSOD 5 times in 3 hours. I'm trying to write my PhD thesis at the moment, so I'm sure you can imagine that this is getting a little annoying.

Problem signature is pasted below from the last time it crashed (assuming it's been the same reason each time!). I've performed the Dump and System File Collection and System Health Report (attached) - the system health report has three failures in the PlugAndPlay devices - could this be the problem??

    Laptop Details:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) full retail.
    OS Installed: ~1 month ago
    Hardware: ~4.5 years old.

    Problem Signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 2057
    BCCode: 50
    BCP1: FD1ED8FC
    BCP2: 00000000
    BCP3: 82CC06FB
    BCP4: 00000002
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 256_1

Thanks so much for any help you can offer!!

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

    The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

    To ensure minidumps are enabled:

    * Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
    * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
    * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
    * Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.

    Thanks for your reply!!

I've attached the contents of the \Windows\Minidump to this message, containing DMP files ... hope this helps!!

    Thanks a lot!

So far it's still a bit inconclusive. At least 3 crashes blames a corrupted Direct-X install while others blame either your Anti Virus AVG (2), or your memory (RAM).
What you should do first: Make sure to have at least 2 Backups of your thesis outside the computer, just to be safe.
Uninstall AVG for the time being with this AVG - Download tools and utilities and replace it with this:
Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Microsoft Security Essentials
The RAM I would test after this tut: RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Report back with your findings and report new crashes after this tut: https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 909fddc2, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: 8e39c6c4, Exception Record Address

    Hi,

    Thanks for the advice ...
I removed AVG and installed MSE like you mentioned. I also performed the RAM test, which came back with no errors. Unfortunately I'm still getting the BSOD ... I've attached the minidump file to this post. Any more advice is welcome!

    Thanks again!

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 6a773e98, memory referenced
    Arg2: 00000002, IRQL
    Arg3: 00000000, bitfield :
    	bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: 82ca6197, address which referenced memory

    Debugging Details:
