"Windows Explorer has stopped working right click" Hi,
This problem has been frustrating me for some time and I'm wondering if anyone could help me with this. As the title says, I am getting a "windows explorer has stopped working " error when I right click a program. whenever I right-click a folder, it takes very long for it to load. It works fine on other things and I tried to run cmd but I can't run as admin since it won't let me right-click it. So for now I am running registry repairs and hoping it'll come up with something. But I was wondering if anyone else had any input on this. | My System Specs |

What kind of mouse do you have and how is it attached? It could be that the driver is corrupt or the attachment is bad. What does your log say about the error? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built 2/11/2011 OS Windows 7 Pro-x64 CPU i7-2600 3.4GHz - 3.8GHz Turbo Motherboard Intel DH67BL-B3 Memory 8Gb - 2x4GB, Muskin 991770 PC3-1333 Graphics Card Integrated Intel HD 2000 Sound Card Integrated Intel 10.1 HD, RealTek ALC892 Monitor(s) Displays Asus LCD VH222H, Haier HL24XSL2a Screen Resolution 1920x1080, 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech EX100 Wireless Mouse Logitech EX100 Wireless PSU Seasonic 650W 80+ Gold Modular Case Rosewill Defender Cooling Stock CPU, Four 120mm case fans, PCH fan added Hard Drives Crucial C300-128Gb,

It's one of the old laser optical Dell mouses. The problem isn't coming from the mouse, it has been working for quite a while. I think it's more related to the computer. I don't really get much of an error because" windows explorer has stopped working" and and then it just reloads explorer.exe | My System Specs

How old is the HD? Have you run a diagnostic? I got the same impression, that it had trouble loading the registry. It may be a good idea to run a diagnostic on the drive even if you have to boot from CD. That would help to rule out the hardware. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center OS Windows 7 32 bit CPU AMD 5200+ dual core Memory 2 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 6150SE 128 MB Monitor(s) Displays CRT Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard PS/2 Mouse PS/2 Wheel Mouse Hard Drives 500 GB Sata internal :

Laptop is about a year old, ASUS UL50A if that helps. How would I go in doing the diagnostic check? | My System Specs

Have you recently loaded/installed any new software that adds shell extensions--Like an antivirus or utility? Or copied files (programs) from another computer to restore something you may have deleted by accident? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built 2/11/2011 OS Windows 7 Pro-x64 CPU i7-2600 3.4GHz - 3.8GHz Turbo Motherboard Intel DH67BL-B3 Memory 8Gb - 2x4GB, Muskin 991770 PC3-1333 Graphics Card Integrated Intel HD 2000 Sound Card Integrated Intel 10.1 HD, RealTek ALC892 Monitor(s) Displays Asus LCD VH222H, Haier HL24XSL2a Screen Resolution 1920x1080, 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech EX100 Wireless Mouse Logitech EX100 Wireless PSU Seasonic 650W 80+ Gold Modular Case Rosewill Defender Cooling Stock CPU, Four 120mm case fans, PCH fan added Hard Drives Crucial C300-128Gb,

Whoever made the hard drive usually has a diagnostic program you can download. If it's WD then go to western digital site. If it's Seagate, go there. Search for the drive model number. There should be software downloads for that model drive. Or a download that will list a whole bunch of drives it will work with. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center OS Windows 7 32 bit CPU AMD 5200+ dual core Memory 2 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 6150SE 128 MB Monitor(s) Displays CRT Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard PS/2 Mouse PS/2 Wheel Mouse Hard Drives 500 GB Sata internal :

To my knowledge, I don't think so. If anything I just restored my computer back a little bit to the 15th and it's still acting up | My System Specs

does the onboard touchpad buttons act the same way (or is only the external mouse and is mouse PS2 or usb)....if yes then I would check to see if any new mouse drivers have been loaded through Windows update or other update service and roll them back.....or....you could do a restore to a point before this began to occure if it hasn't been too long.
Just saw your newest post....try rolling back to prior to the 12th of this month when the latest patches rolled out. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Systemax N2000 Gaming PC OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Q6600 @2.4ghz (G0 stepping) Motherboard XFX nforce 680i LT Memory 8 gb OCZ vista essential sli PC-6400 Graphics Card Dual 9800gt in SLI mode Sound Card Integrated 8.1 High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dual Sceptre x246w 24 inch monitors Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 each monitor Keyboard MS Intelitype 6000 v2.0 Mouse MS Intelipoint 6000 PSU Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1250W Case N2000 server tower Cooling Thermaltake Bigwater 760 is Hard Drives 500 GB SATA II / 7500 rpm Internet Speed Wi-power 1.5GB up / 512k down Other Info Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Windows 7 Pro x64, Windows Home Premium X86, Windows XP pro, Windows Home Server x86, Ubuntu 10.4 x86 and x64, Ubuntu server 10.4, SQL Server 2005, MySQL 5.0 |

Okay just restored it back. The same problem is happening with on board touchpad. I read that it might be some kind of shell problem. Don't know if that's it but I still wouldn't know how to go about fixing it. | My System Specs | | "Windows Explorer has stopped working right click" problems? All times are GMT -5.
