Windows bootes but can't start any programm not even device manager

Hi my problem started with some security updates the last days or so that failed.

After that windows started with chkdsk which printed out a lot of stuff like, "remove index from blabla" and so on. After that my windows started normally but I got a lot of errors from nearly all startup applications that "oleaut32.dll" is missing.

I wanted to start the event-viewer to check the log of chkdsk but it won't start. Giving me the error message "not enough memory" the same message comes when I want to start the device manager or similiar windows system programms. In safe mode I have the same problem.
I have 12gig of memory and windows uses about 1,5g so there must be another reason.

If I want to start any other programm like firefox or similar i get alot of missing something errors and it won't work.

I don't think the hard-drive broke because I have ubuntu running on another partition on the same hard-drive and it works just prefect. Right now i'm checking the hardrive with ubuntu nevertheless to be save.

What do you think I can do to repair my windows?

Hi, cant start it from within windows, and i think my startup disk wont recognize my windows because I use grub as boot-loader. But i will give it a try after the disk check is completed.

Well the Hard-Drive is fine as expected.

I used a not so sophisticated way to fix most of the problems: I also have a partition with windows vista on it and copied all of the missing dlls from there in my System32 folder. Those where: oleacc.dll, oleaut32.dll, iertutil.dll, wininet.dll, urlmon.dll
now most of the programs seem to work again.

I must say microsoft did a pretty bad job with their update software if it can **** up your system like that.

Well I'm going to try to run the updates again, I wonder what will happen

Run just 1 or 2 updates each time and make a system restore

Updates worked out and no more errors occurred. I consider this problem solved. :)
