Taskbar freezes, black screen a day or two later
Once again, my Taskbar froze, only showing program icons and ignoring my cursor. (Keyboard shortcuts still worked.) Re-booting merely resumes the problem. A day later, Windows 7 opens only in Safe Mode (+ Command Prompt). SFC detects no problems. Also, no error codes or messages at all.
When this happened, three weeks ago, restoring from a recovery point was the only solution I'd found. ("Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process", and it will *not* run upon restart. My BIOS HD diagnostic found no problem.)
No system changes preceded that first event. This time, TaskBar froze as soon as I'd only begun a BullZip PDF Printer job, last night. The black screen came today.
All suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. VTY, KCW
