Well I unplugged the power cord for a good hour, plugged it back in and tried it again and now the system actually boots up. Is there anything I can check to see why nothing was booting up before?
Yes.
You can check in event viewer to see if the problem is logged.
There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Event viewer (local) and look for errors listed in the last day, week, etc. Then go to the windows log>application tab. Finally the windows Logs>system tabs.
You want to look for all errors (they have red in the left column ).
When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.
When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.
These are the 3 main errors that I get the most.
^not sure what is causing this one.
^Whenever I put my camera memory card in the drive it always asks me to scan for errors, but Im not sure if thats what this error is for or not.
^And I know this one is from holding down the power button to restart the computer
* Kyle we need any new DMP files created to do further analysis.
* Your Event Viewer > Event ID's appear to refer to...
ID 41 is quite common & doesn't always present a problem.
Event ID: 20
Event ID: 11
Event ID: 41
Thanks for the links. The computer is booting fine now, but Im still having the freezing error.
I only see one new dmp file since the last one I posted and Ill attach it for you guys to take a look at.
OK, busy ATM but one of us will get back to you asap....
Still hardware, still the same solutions.
If the problem is bad enough you may want to consider a clean install (which wont fix a hardware problem) because it will eliminate software as a possible cause.
If you still get them then you will have to start pulling out hardware or taking it to someone to do that.
We are happy to continue to help you diagnose this problem but it may be quicker to re-install
Jan (JMH) and I
Clean install, as in reinstalling windows 7?
Also I noticed a new dmp file that I never posted.
