"AC adaptor currentlly connected is not supported"

I've been getting this message recently, but my power button shows that the laptop is plugged in. I have no idea why it isn't recognizing it, but when it's plugged in and not recognized, it really cuts down on my laptop's performance. Oh, and it isn't a typo with the two "L"s, it really shows up like that in the bubble.

    Here's a HijackThis i just ran:

Just updated my BIOS from A04 to A10 and wiggled the adapter around, now it's charging again. Don't know if it's a complete fix to the problem or not, but now I'm nervous to even move the laptop. The little bugger likes to slide out...

Anyway, I did some researching outside of sevenforums, and it seems that BIOS version A04 had a lot of battery-related issues. Is that true, and is A10 a lot smoother in that regard?

My laptop came unplugged, and now it isn't recognizing the adapter again. My battery is currently at 41% and is slowly trickling down. I can't afford to have my battery die without some way to charge it, I don't have any other access to the programs and files I need to get my degree. I've ran virus scans and malware scans, in normal boot and in safe mode. I've run complete system checks, all I haven't done is take the laptop apart and look at the motherboard. Update: in the middle of typing this, my AMD driver crashed and rebooted.
My girlfriend keeps saying take it to Best Buy. Is that my best option?
