Check your motherboard specifications to see what spare slots you have, and then install a dedicated sound card - something like a Creative Soundblaster Audigy would be fine. | My System Specs |

well I'll keep it running to find out if it 100% is a sound problem because I'm a student and don't really have the money for extra bits and bobs... hoping that it is a sound problem rather than anything else though.

It's just I stream games for money and sometimes it can hit 70 odd degrees C | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 home premium 64bit CPU AMD phenom II x4 3.4Ghz Motherboard ASUS m5a78L Memory 8gb ddr3 Corsair Graphics Card Asus Nvidia gtx 570 direct cu II Sound Card - Monitor(s) Displays HD tv 22' Grundig Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard microsoft standard keyboard Mouse razer Lachesis 5600 PSU 800w (900w Peak) Xenta Unit Case CM 680 II Cooling 4 standard case fans/ Arctic cooler Xtreme revision cpu fan Internet Speed 50mb fibre optic ( get around 42mb) |

Depends which one it is, have a look here: What temperature should my processor be running at?
If you can't afford a sound card just yet, keep an eye out for any friends who might have one spare and check out the local flea markets - you'll be amazed what you can pick up - hardware that is, not fleas! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |
