Recently within the last month, started getting random crashing. First it wasn't BSOD, just a black screen, then computer would freeze completely...only way to restart was power button. Then even more recently it started turning to BSOD pointing to ntoskrnl.exe. So following the steps about posting my dmp file and perfmon file, i ran into another problem with permon. I get an error : "An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified."

So I hope the dmp file will be enough or at least give a clue as to how I can generate a system health file.

Specs are as follows:

Windows 7 Professional (x86)
AMD Athlon x2 3.0ghz
4gb RAM
XFX Radeon HD 5670 512mb
Asus M4A88T-M Motherboard
System and OS are 8 months old.

Hello Cosmomemory,

*If you are overclocking please STOP!

* I suggest you read through "Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try"

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

* Then refer to "How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+"

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots
