I wanted to wipe system and reload. after a very short time in the install process i got a failure warning disc didn't read. So i re-booted and now without install disc i get prompt of missing boot mgr. with install disc it does bring up windows but then BSOD failure process initialization failure. You shouldn't make multiple threads on the same problem, it will just cause confusion.
Its hard to tell from what you posted but it sounds like either your install media is scratched or dirty, your optical drive is dirty, or your hard drive has issues. We need to know what disk didn't read, the optical disk (DVD drive) or the hard drive. Posting the exact error message word for word might help.

Thank you ... I don't want to create problems.... from the hard disc boot error is " boot mgr missing hit control/alt/del to restart. From my optical disc (the windows7 disc supplied by ASUS when I purchased pc ) it starts to load files, then the windows logo appears but before I can do anything i get BSOD error process initialization error.

The missing boot manager message is because windows didn't finish the install process. The BSOD during the install could be tricky to diagnose. First off make sure there are no scratches or smudges on the Windows 7 DVD. Also disconnect anything and everything that is externally connected like printers, WIFI dongles, USB drives, even keyboards an mice. Its a laptop right, so unless the built in keyboard or touch pad is broken you don't need an external keyboard or mouse. You might even want to reset the BIOS to fail safe defaults if it blue screens again during the install process. I probably should have asked this first, but what prompted you to re-install Windows?

OK, that could be an indication of a RAM problem, you may want to run memtest or something similar to check that out.

ops, sorry, not sure why I thought it was a laptop. I guess you will be needing your keyboard and mouse connected.

Thank you so very much!!!!! I have (3) 2gb sticks of ddr2 400 ram...I removed them and randomly chose 1 of them and reinstalled, put in my win7 optical disc and lo and behold it loaded... now my ? is .... i scheduled a memory check for next time I re-boot... should I put the other 2 sticks back in before I re-boot?
I have a 64 bit system and think i probably need more than 2 gb of ram...
May I please ask for your advice?

I think I would them both back in and see what happens. Sometimes just re-seating the modules will fix a glitch like this. I would test them just to be sure. Did this PC always have this amount of RAM or did you add some at some point?
