Ah now we are on to something.
looks like your realtek audio driver is a vista version.
You should attempt to update it. It may very well be the cause of the halt.
    Realtek
you can try that link, I'm only about 90% sure it's the right one though.

Hmmm welll it turns out the realtek drivers are both for Vista and Win7.....but i updated them anyway and BSODs still happen.

Nearly going to throw in the towel on this, BUT interestingly on my device manager is an unknown device with the yellow caution triangle beside it, that seems to give very little away. More intriguing is it says Code 28 the drivers for this device are not installed. Which sounds fishy.

Si I looked at the 'properties of the unknown device, then looked under the Details tab and saw

    00000040
    CONFIGFLAG_FAILEDINSTALL

Looked under 'Device Instance Path' and it says
    ROOT\*ISATAP\0000

    DevNode Status

    01802401
    DN_ROOT_ENUMERATED
    DN_HAS_PROBLEM
    DN_DISABLEABLE
    DN_NT_ENUMERATOR
    DN_NT_DRIVER

    Problem Code
    0000001C

Anyone know what this is and if its likely to be the source of my problems????

Before I go tracking it, have you tried just removing it and rebooting?

No I haven't removed it yet, as I wondered if anyone here could identify it first before I tried that. That would enable me to identify what could be the cause of the problem.

Something very bizarre has happened, which I may need some clarification on. A few days ago I bought a friends 1920x1080 monitor (which i'm using now). My previous monitor was a paltry 1366x768. Since changing monitors I have spent about 3hrs on Skyrim, 2 hours on Shogun 2 and watched quite a lot of video.......and i've had no Blue Screens.

Could this be something to do with the monitor. With my 1366x768 monitor I was very aware that that resolution was considered quite old these days, and games were starting to drop off support for it. On top of that 1366x768 isn't really considered a true gaming set up. Could it be the more recent ATI Drivers didn't really support a 1366x768 configuration?

I'm not claiming 'fixed' yet but no Blue Screens in 2 and a half days is promising

I can't offer an explanation as to why that would have changed anything, but I would not look a gift horse in the mouth if I were you. Just post back if it persist.

Back again i'm afraid (note: now have an nvidia graphics card not ATI)

Hi wondered if anyone can help me i'm having an epic battle with a blue screen issuer with my computer. I will add all the info I possibly can below.

    * There seems to be no warning as to when the Blue Screen will happen, i'd say it happens about 50% of the time during a computer session. It most often happens when playing a youtube video or a game, when a certain function is enabled. For example I played Shogun 2 for an hour completely fine but as soon as I pressed 'play battle'....Blue Screen.
The accompanying Blue Screen will sometimes 100% finish it's 'dumping physichal memory to disk' and sometimes freeze during this state, meaning i have to actually turn off the computer.

    * Often the drop out to blue screen is accompanied by an ugly buzzing noise (sound related issue?)

    * There is little danger of a blue screen happening passively when i'm just writing a text document or going through the desktop actively clicking something internet or in-game appears to cause it.

    * Often immediately after a blue screen my computer will not actually boot up, sometimes i turn on the computer and i will hear the fan noise but not the 1 beep to confirm boot up has taken place, it remains in this state. If i unplug the power then come back 10 mins later it usually boots ok (naturally with windows saying it didn't shut down correctly and asking if i want to go into safe mode). Rarely

I do not know if this is anything to do with the fault or just a natural reaction to the constant BSOD and impromptu 'power offs' my computer is experiencing (which can't be healthy for it). I will post a dump here and also a screenshot of one of my Blue screens here (apologies its taken with a camera i don't know how to capture blue screen images, hope you can read it)

In answer to a few that will probably come up.

*Have run Memtest on my RAM many cycles through....it seems fine.

*Have run temperature tests on my Computer and components (GPU especially). These seem to be running in normal parameters.

*I have done a clean sweep on driver sweeper in terms of my NVidia Graphics drivers. I have then clean installed the latest Nvidia drivers but to no avail.
Something that has been suggested before is corrupt DirectX or MS Net. Framework. I am not sure how to fix these if that's the case

I would use driver sweeper to wipe out everything that remains of the ati drivers
Also remove the nvidia driver the same way, then attempt reinstall.

This kind of thing is sadly pretty common when switching brands.

I'm hoping it's this conflict that is getting you. The crash dump you submitted was incomplete.
So I'm operating mostly on guess work atm.
Given this system has given us issues with graphics drivers in the past though....

    Also do this again.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    driver sweeper
    http://phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/Dr...Version-3-2-0/
best installed in normal mode then use in safe mode.
