BSOD when playing games, watching video or on standby!

Windows 7 . . .
- x86
- full retail version
- What is the age of system (hardware)? 2009
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) installed windows 7 in 2010 (no)

Hi my windows 7 keeps crashing, i first experienced these bsod when i started to play street fighter iv, where the screen would freeze and loads of tiny squares would appear on the screen followed by bsod, then i removed the game and eversince i randomly get these bsod of deaths and its mainly when playing games, watching videos either dvd or online streaming like bbc iplayer or somwtimes if im doing word processing in microsoft office it can happen, i usually have seen a pfn list corrupt error on the blue screen

Your AMD/ATi Display driver is the cause. It should be updated
ATI Radeon

Test your Graphics card with OCCT http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...test-occt.html

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.
Code:
sptd.sys 0x8b6bc000 0x8b7b5000 0x000f9000 0x4bbd3138 08/04/2010 05:28:24

hi thanks very much i removed alchohol 120% a long time ago, however the driver was still on system and now is removed going to update driver and see, i added more minidumps to the zip but i suspect the cause will be the same and thanks for the quick reply, lets hope the probs are fixed, i was worried it may be my ram, but do u suspect the grahphic card which a radeon 3850 i belive maybe faulty (hardware wise) ??

update: driver updated and tested but it comes with errors and the test stops, so is the graphics card faulty??

Yes if errors are found there would be a high probability that your card is defective.

Your dumps still point to the graphics driver.

Moreover 'VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)' is mentioned.
STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

This can also be caused by RAM, test it RAM - Test with Memtest86+

The other dumps mention 'PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (4e)' but are still graphics related.

Hi before I go ahead and purchase a new graphics card, I'm now experiencing pixelated screen with tiny squares so many of them whilst booting up and even whilst in bios, I don't have onboard graphic card to confirm that the card is faulty, what I wanted to know was do the graphic driver be used whist in bios and also during the black screen whilst booting?

Pixleated/distorted graphics are clear signs of defective graphics card, and yes you should replace it.
