Windows 7: Windows failed to start and can't find operating system

To be more specific about my System Restore problem, this is the error message I get when I click that option in the Recovery Menu:

"To use System Restore, you must be specific about which Windows installation to restore.

Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore."

But this is impossible because my recovery options menu doesn't display any operating systems. It's blank.

Do you run Windows Backup and Restore?

Edit: I should be clearer. Have you run Backup and Restore in the past? I realize you can't run it now, but if you have a backup on an external drive, you could at least use the WindowsImageBackup to recover your computer. I am pretty sure that works whether your computer can see the OS or not.

=> type=07 so ntfs that's good. Active so boot partition, also good. and not hidden.

No problem so far. But it's file system is RAW!!? I don't understand why. Real problems with partition. Of course you can't detect a windows installation, so you can't do a "system restore". Do you have a "system image backup"? If zo then you can restore that backup. But I first gonna search on google

Go into recovery environment and start "command prompt"
bootsect /nt60 C: /mbr
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec/fixboot

post results. Are you able to boot now? C still listed as RAW?

Oh, man....I mistyped the first two lines (accidentally wrote "nbr" instead of "mbr") and didn't realize the commands didn't go through. The third, however (bootrec/fixboot) did.

Then I realized my mistake and retyped the three commands and restarted the computer. Upon restart, I got: "No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics." F1 doesn't do anything; F2 takes me to the BIOS configuration page.

Did I make the problem worse? Is there anything I can do? I can still access the Recovery Options using my recovery disc...but now I am almost missing the original "Windows failed to start" message, which was less terrifying than this one.

Can you run diskpart again and display the results? Edit: Especially the detail disk part. I want to see if that drive is still registering as raw. Thanks.

typying errors: then the comand fails. But the sequence of those 3 commands doesn't mind
bootsect /nt60 C: /mbr =>this puts master boot record on physical disk where C partition is on
bootrec /fixmbr => put master boot record on physical disk where startup partition is on. so same as command above
bootrec/fixboot =>puts bootsector on boot partition

can you post output of commands above plz. Also this command
bootsect /nt60 C:

All these commands replaces mbr and boot sector to default Windows 7 ones. And they should be static, so only fixed corruption

Um....I only did LIST VOL, but I'm pretty sure this says all you need to know.

What?????

I am concerned that the disk said RAW. This is a major problem without running a partition recovery. I've seen this happen on many forums (including Sevenforums) without being resolved.

I am in the process of trying to find a bootable partition rescue/recovery tool. If anyone else knows of one, let me know. I don't believe the recover feature of Diskpart works, and it may do more harm.
