Windows 7: Windows freeze and crash at log in if Nvidia drivers are present!

I updated the drivers, and unfortunately it still freezes on the "starting windows"..
I'm pretty sure it can't be a driver problem, since the same driver works fine if the 570 is in the pci x4 slot, or the 260 in the x16.
Appreciate any ideas, as im totally confused by it. Also i don't think it's relevant, but it might be: i'm running windows from an ssd and a hard drive for everything else.
Thanks for the help writhziden, as well as JMH and zigzag3143.

I am also confused by it. It is odd that a good card would cause BSOD when it also does not seem like a Motherboard issue. I agree that the 260 working in the same slot means the slot is probably good. Is there anything different in how the 570 is configured through the nVidia utility?

The only other thing I can suggest is try changing around any display/graphics settings in BIOS; maybe something is not configured correctly for that particular GPU. If a setting does not work, reset the BIOS to default settings.
