    BSOD playing games, ntoskrnl.exe error

    Hi,
I could use a little help here because this is really getting on my nerves.

The problem occurs when i try to run a game. Everything goes smooth to the part when bsod appears, usally after 10-15 minutes, depending on a game im trying.

At first i thought it's video driver that is causing trouble, but after changing several of them the results didn't got any better.

    My system specs:
    MB: MSI K9N SLI-2F
    CPU: AMD Athlon x64 6000+
    MEM: 4gb (Kingmax 2x1gb + Kingston 2gb) DDR2
    VGA: Powercolor HD6850
    PU: Chieftec 450w
    Sys: Win7 Ultimate x64

    What i tried so far:
    • Changing video card drivers (with or without control panel)
    • Reinstalling a fresh copy of windows 7
    • BlueScreenViewer shows it's ntoskrnl.exe related
    • sfc /scannow fixed some errors, but some of them still appear and can not be fixed
    • memtest86+ 4.20, 6 passes, no errors reported
    • Video Memory Stress Test v1.7, only one pass, showed no errors
    • chkdisk displayed some errors i think but they were fixed

    Files attached.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hi. :)

Update software\driver for nVidia Ethernet Networking Driver (nForce chipset driver)

    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

    Remove Bitdefender from your system.

Download, instal, use Microsoft Security Essentials with windows firewall.

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker You may need to run it 2-3 times to "fix" everything.

    Download and install Driver Sweeper

Download the most recent software\driver for your ati AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

    Uninstall
ati software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper, choose only AMD-Display and clean, restart in normal mode.

    Install the new ati software\driver,restart.

    Update
    DirectX

Read very carefully the instructions and run NVIDIA/AMD Video Card - Test with OCCT
    Post here the results.

Run RAM - Test with Memtest86+ Leave it to run overnight.

    Finish and post back.

So the PC was working 'fine' for X amount of time and then 'suddenly' started crashing?

Aside from drivers, have you installed any new hardware that would coincide with the time it started crashing?

    • BlueScreenViewer shows it's ntoskrnl.exe related

The system file itself is rarely/never the cause.

sfc /scannow fixed some errors, but some of them still appear and can not be fixed
chkdisk displayed some errors i think but they were fixed
Reinstalling a fresh copy of windows 7
Was re-install over the top, or a completely new/partition formatted installation?

I didn't played games for some time so i couldn't notice. Windows it self is working ok, although i remember having some problems booting the system after updates were installed.

It was a completely new installation on a formated drive.

Looks like it was a power problem.
I plugged in an aditional molex connector to my motherboard, i don't know how i missed that, and it's exactly for the vga stability.

    Latest dump file attached.

That additional molex is normally only needed when your running sli/crossfire to allow extra power to your pic express slots. its not needed with a single card.

maybe your 12v rail thats powering your 6pin connectors to the GPU is on the blink.
