That 9 times out of 10 would cause a IRQL BSOD with the old drivers, as yet, nothing.
You mean you didn't remove avast when i advice you in my first post\reply?

Sorry no, I did everything you suggested but as the system became unstable I system restored back to a time where avast was installed, I replaced it again after that.

Right, I installed and ran FurMark at 1680x1050 on a full stress test, the GPU temp started from 72 degree's and rose to 108 degree's in 50 seconds with an fps of 10, I stopped it at that point as it never looked like stopping there. I never noticed any artifacts however.

Knowing thats a touch on the hot side, I installed MSI Afterburner to monitor idle temps, this also backed-up the 72 degree's idle temp, it also showed my clock speed was also idling at 700mhz. I done some searching and found that this is a known fault, so I flashed my vbios as suggested.

Its now idling at 36 degree's and the clock speed is at 100mhz, I ran the same FurMark test again and this time it took 2 mins to reach its peak at 95 degrees at which it flat-lined, with an fps of 18. I ran this for 10 mins and again no artifacts.

Could this be the source of my problems?

It seems that everything is stable right now, I will try again to update the GPU drivers some other time, now that I've flashed a new vbios it might work.

Thanks for your help guys .
