Bugcheck 124 - CPU or RAM?

    Hello Forum

I have a computer with random bluescreens and the analysis of the minidump with windbg points me to faulty hardware. I did not install any new hardware but the machine is a couple of years old, so it could be a thermal failure in a component.

I have different minidumps. The PROCESS_NAME value changes randomly and also the Arg2 value but the Adress in Arg2 point to register R8 in everey dump. Everything else is identical in each dump.

Does it mean that the processor is bugy when the error points to R8 everytime or is it not relevant and more RAM related?

Processor: Intel Pentium D 3 GHz (Dual Core, 2 Logical Processors)
    RAM: 2GB
    Mainbord: Asus P5ND2-SLI
    Graphic: nVidia Geforce 7800 GTX
    Dump: attached windbg output

    Thanks for your time

Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

    Synopsis:

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.
