Windows 7: After chkdsk runs it hangs on "please wait while your computer"

As it says above chkdsk ran and said wait while it restarts, it's been 45 minutes now and getting annoyed.
This all started after I shut down my machine last night and tried to start it this morning.
It hung on the splash screen for over an hr, when I tried to run repair I was unable to system restore as the mouse and keyboard didn't work.
Specs are posted below.

I have not added any hardware or software between it running fine yesterday prior to shut down and starting it .

Another issue is that it will not boot from the dvd it loads the files, does the splash screen then freezes on a black screen.
Also I cannot boot into safe mode, pc restarts every time I press f8.



Can now access safe mode, start up repair etc but, they either hang on a black screen ( start up repair) or BSOD ( safe mode).
This is very annoying as I did nothing other than shut down last night.


Help/advice appreciated.

Try keeping only one RAM stick and then boot with the Windows 7 dvd.

It was very bizarre, swapped out the mouse to a differing rear usb and lo and behold it works, managed to get to safemode, repair pc, etc with no issues, system restored to yesterday and its all fine now. Whats strange is now the old rear usb doesnt work at all.

Will be running memtest over night, but the ram is about a week old - i's wondering since i added the ssd, that perhaps i should upgrade the bios, as the mb still has version 1 on it and there is a version 2 thats stable apparently.

The following has been known to fix issues similar to yours (I have one myself with my usb ports on my PC and this does the trick):
1. Shut down your computer
2. Once the computer is turned off, unplug all power sources (AC Adapter then Battery)
3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds
4. Plug power sources back in (Battery then AC Adapter)
5. Turn your computer back on
This will reset your software connections between the BIOS and hardware, and it will also clear any memory corruption in the temporary memory (disregard the battery statements if you are using a desktop and not a laptop).
