    The weirdest crash!

    Hello.
    I have a notebook Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q705 which as it do normal work(watching videos and browsing) makes a black screen and starts to make really slow and strange voices (if playing an audio file at the same time) while losing the video picture. Then it is not responging to commands at all and must be shut down with the power button hold for 4 seconds.
    It is not a heating/memory problem nor viruses. The computer was cleaned and the temperatures checked. It doesn't make the crash if I use hyperpi or furmark for testing vga/cpu. The harddisk doesn't have bad sectors (HDD Regenerator used). The even viewer shows critical kernel power event because I must hold the power button down to shut it down.
    The most recently crash happened while watching a video on youtube. The voices where very weird. I will try to update video/audio drivers.
    The ram was tested 16 straight hours with memtest86. NO errors. The temperature of the cpu is around 70 while under load but it must be normal for such processor(high-end) P7350. The max working temperature is 90. So 70 is okay.

    We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

    If you are overclocking STOP

    You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

    To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

    The procedure:
    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
    *If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

    To ensure minidumps are enabled:
    * Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
    * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
    * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
    * Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.

    The strange this is the computer doesn't get a BSOD although having in mind the problem it should. I updated to the latest graphic/audio/chipset drivers and the problem didn't occured yet while the computer is working for 2-3 hours. I think the problem is fixed and will update the thread if it is.

    I would check event viewer to see what is logged there.

    To check for freezing/crashing you need to check several things.

    Event viewer.
    Type eventvwr in search and go to the windows log>application tab.
    Look for errors. Errors have red in the left hand column.

    Look for errors that say app hang, or app crash, or anything related to the problem.
    When you find them either take a screenshot of them and upload them to us, or note the event ID and source codes and look them up in google. If you cant find them in google tell us what they are.

    I did event viewer check already. It showed some strange hard disk controller error earlier and maybe then the vga drivers get damaged. For some hours the computer played playlists in youtube and the problem didn't occured so it was definately a VGA driver problem or it is hardware problem and just didn't occured while testing but could happen again later. Time will tell. Thanks for the suggestions. BSOD would help narrowing it down but strage it didn't happened ever.
    One of the crashes happened while updating the video card driver...
    But now after all the testing the crash happened again while in Battlefield 3 in pause mode (esc key while playing) so it is not fixed. It seems to be a hardware problem - a bad video card which I am sure will be expensive...
    I happened to receive the crash always around 10 seconds into the mission Semper Fidelis from Battlefield 3 playing or pausing it which is weird.
    I now could be able to play around 20-30 seconds but still it crashed.
