    BSOD during gaming and idle

    Hello,

    some info first:

My causin's computer is bsoding almost everyday, during gaming and doing basicly nothing in windows. I reinstalled his windows at my place, did OCCT and prim95 for a few hours, no BSOD. Also checked his RAM, no problems.

When his computer was back at home, after a day the problems came back, BSOD during battlefield 3 and surfing on the internet.. Als many different BSOD codes.

Because i didnt knwo what to do i tryed to put his MOBO with CPU in my case with my hardware (We have the same MOBO and CPU..). First day no problems and tonight i got the BSOD 0x124. While before with my own MOBO i never had any BSOD.. also for drives ect, its all updated or newest downloaded, for his and mine windows 7

So is his MOBO and or CPU broken?? i attached the dumpfile!!!

(during typing this i did a intel burn in test... succesfully ended!)

Caused by a general hardware complaint.
There is also one file that might cause it called asacpi.sys

    Asacpi.sys

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known bsod cause.
Please visit this link: Asus tek computer inc. -support- drivers and download p7p55d le

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5K-VM

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

    Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (notbefore).
Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress
    Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

Things change. I am sure you have added programs, changed settings, etc. That combines and sometimes the combination will cause your system to crash.

thats the problem havent changed anything nor installed anything, i just simply exchanged my mobo with his. nothing more nothing less. Thats why it is so strange that with my mobo i never had any problems, and with his 1 its a bsod.

We have the same p5q mainboard with a q9550 on it.

There are way too many differences even within a specific manufacturer and model line, like BIOS version, ROM versions, etc. Also I will bet the ram is different as well

without any change of sofware ect

My components on my mobo/cpu = no bsod's
    My components on his mobo/cpu = bsod's

    His components on his mobo/cpu = bsod's
His components on my mobo/cpu = no bsod

maby this explenation is clearer :)

He played no for 2 days with his hardware on my mobo, and never got any bsod, while with his own mobo, its bsod al day..

Still think their is something wrong with his mobo, besides the fact the test wont give any problems. also the mobo's are up to date by firmware.

    I understand.

Are we reading the DMP file from his computer?

If so his computer has a hardware problem that yours obviously doesnt.

    He needs to update asacpi.sys

In fact you probably already have it.
