Is anything broken? I was playing Minecraft and accidentally spawned 800 Creepers which lagged the System, I waited and forgot to press Ctrl-alt-delete to end, and then did it.
I then get really slow 30kb/s data transfer speeds and really noisy fan..
I have turned it off and plan to keep if off for a few hours.
What should I do? | My System Specs |

Turn it back on. Usually a reboot will settle things down.

There are some machines that adjust the fan speed depending on the system load. Cold is good!
It would help if you would post your system specs, even though you have Ultimate x64, Minecraft can be hard on a system.
How-to is located in the green info box directly below the reply box.
Have you noticed any other performance anomalies?

Being on a carpet is not bad per se, but it will collect more dust, and dirt.
If you have had it there longer than 6mos. I would consider pulling the case cover to give it a cleaning. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway DX4831e (Mid-Tower Desktop) OS Win 7 Home Premium 64bit Ver 6.1.7600 Build 7601 - SP1 CPU Intel i3 530 2.93GHz, 2933MHz 2 Cores 4 Logical Processors Motherboard Gateway H57M01 133 megahertz Memory 6GB of 1,333MHz DDR3 SDRAM Graphics Card 32MB Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD IGChip Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Gateway HX2000 20inch TFT active matrix TN Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 x 59 hertz Keyboard MS 'Natural' Standard PS/2 Enhanced 101-102 Key Mouse Gateway USB wired optical PSU 300watts. One thing you need to realize is there can be more than one fan inside your machine, such as: cpu fans, video card fans, system fans, and even fans inside power supplies.
Here are two tutorials on case maintenance: Computer Maintenance Guide, and Cleaning the Interior of your PC Especially check the part about fan rotation.
You can also go online to YouTube, search for fan, and or computer noises, and you will be able to hear what the different sounds, sound like.
Be specific, and use the name of your cpu, video card, system fans, and power supplies. If you built this PC yourself you will need the actual name of the component.
Is this, a brand name model or did you build this yourself? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway DX4831e (Mid-Tower Desktop) OS Win 7 Home Premium 64bit Ver 6.1.7600 Build 7601 - SP1 CPU Intel i3 530 2.93GHz, 2933MHz 2 Cores 4 Logical Processors Motherboard Gateway H57M01 133 megahertz Memory 6GB of 1,333MHz DDR3 SDRAM Graphics Card 32MB Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD IGChip Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Gateway HX2000 20inch TFT active matrix TN Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 x 59 hertz Keyboard MS 'Natural' Standard PS/2 Enhanced 101-102 Key Mouse Gateway USB wired optical PSU 300watts.
