That was my suggestion also on the last page. Safe Mode then uninstall Malwarebytes if she thinks that the culprit.

System Restore is a great idea also.

Thank you both more than you can imagine..
I had no other option in safe mode, on my screen but Media center.. to go forward.. is why I used it.,

If anything would work I would have already uninstalled Malwarebytes..

Doing a restore at this point would only bury this problem deeper in my pc..

Ahhh, so the only operating system to choose from is WMC? I see now. So basically it will not boot to safe mode? Do you have the XP CD?

OK, in safe mode, go to Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore

Pick a point from before the trouble, and follow the steps (you are familiar with SR?)

If that doesn't work, try Safe Mode with Command prompt. When command prompt loads type in

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

    Enter

See if you can access SR then.

Your earlier description of booting into Safe Mode sounds like it stalls out during the "Loading Drivers" phase. Is this correct? Can you report back the exact driver shown when it stalls?

Also on the F8 Advanced Boot Options it was suggested to try "Last Known Good Config." Have you tried that yet?

Can you get your hands on an XP MCE SP3 install CD for your exact year's version, OEM-specific if it came preinstalled on the machine, or Retail if you bought the OS separately? This will be needed to try an XP Repair Install if that option appears when you boot in following the steps in blue link. We can help you find one online if necessary to burn to CD, boot into Repair to try bootrec commands first then Repair Install.

Greg hi.. What I saw in the safe mode was all black white.. nothing blue.. I chose the Windows Media Center .. it was the only choice for me. when I clicked it. a screen filled with from top to bottom with what appeared to be drivers..or maybe something else.. I'm not at all techie.. after this .. with all black background.. only white fonts.
I WAS DEAD IN THE WATER SO TO SPEAK .. EVERYTHING FROZE.
i CAN REBOOT TO MY DESKTOP.. oops caps.. When the icon for malwarebytes appears on the task bar,, near the clock lower right corner of the screen.. it all STOPS.Not one program or anythng will funstion.. even the Start button will work, I have to do a hard shutdown.
I might dig around and locate a XP CD.. that came with this XP.
This pc was made in a factory for HSN ..that's where I brought it .. a total pkg.
I would gladly report to you anything I can.. I can't get any functions to work.. so there's no copy/paste.. no screen shots.
Thank you so much for your reply to this

Greg , I can't get to anything on the XP that will function, or can't do a restore , would that NOT cause the problem to be deeper in my pc.. making it almost impossible to remove ??
