Windows XP sp3.. freezing after updating Malwarebytes yesterday

Ok here's my problem with my Windows XP sp3.

I updated Malwarebytes.. yesterday.. normal for me to do on Saturday.
After rebooting.. everything on my XP froze.. as soon as the malwarebyte icon on the task, bar near the clock, lower right corner of my screen appeared.
Not even the start button will function.. I have to do a hard shutdown using the POWER button.
I did get the pc into safe mode.. I saw 3 items on the screen.. I chose something with networking.. next came .. Windows Media Center..( only choice ) so I used the arrow key to get to it, then my screen filled with white fonts on a black ground.. no other colors.. looked like drivers.. maybe a program I'm not sure.. this is way over my head.
Everything froze.. I had to do a hard shut down..
I can reboot .. no problem.. then get to my desktop.. everything freezes once the M B Icon appears near the clock
This is a huge problem to me.
Any help will be gladly used.
    Thanks

Have you tried this yet LPt?

Also on the F8 Advanced Boot Options it was suggested to try "Last Known Good Config." Have you tried that yet?
    Attachment 191015

Also the blue he was talking about is this link here if you can find your disc,

Repair Windows XP by Performing a Repair Install (Part 1 of 2)

He should be with you shortly.
Derek hi... thanks for your input to this problem.
I've started a thread in Crashes and Debugging.
I did see that screen when I booted my XP in safe mode.
I do NOT recall seeing the circled item.. It could have been there..
I was frustrated.. so I'm not sure.
    TY.
ps .. let's get this off ,this thread plz... it's ruining it for everyone who comes here.

Try booting again to the F8 Advanced Boot Options to look for "Last Known Good Config" and choose it.

When you get to Desktop see if you can press Control Alt Delete to open the Task Manager, End Now any Applications that are running, or on Processes tab look for Malwarebytes or any other process hogging CPU to End Process.

If you cannot get control of your Desktop then you may need to run an XP Repair Install
by booting the XP CD. We can help you find the ISO file to burn a new CD, but will need to know the year of the XP Media Center Edition, if it is OEM (came preinstalled) or Retail.

Media Center is a version of XP. It would be best to find the CD which came with the computer, or we at least need to know the MCE year and if it is OEM (came preinstalled) or retail. Can you look on the COA sticker affixed to machine to see the exact version listed?

If it doesn't have SP3 we'll likely have to download a MCE {year version} OEM or retail SP3 to burn to CD to try the Repair Install.

    See above info.
