Computer shuts off randomly.

For some reason my Laptop shuts off randomly. I have no BSOD. Its like I held down the power button. Is there a setting that make your computer shut off after an amount of time or could it be a..... VIRUS

Run some temperature measurements, it could be heat related.

If you're concerned about a possible virus what does your anti-virus program say when you scan?

The scan just finished. Turned up nothing. I take that back about the heat. My dad has a really old laptop and is using my fan to cool it off, and thats right around when I started to have this little problem. also (my fan vent is in the back) there was a stack of napkins behind my vent. So its probaly overheating. Thank you everyone.
