BSOD overnight crashes
Hi,
My system is homebuilt, CPU, motherboard, memory etc. have all been in use for at least 2 years. A few months ago I installed a 60GB SSD as my system drive. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed.
For the most part everything seems to work quite well.
Since installing the SSD I have an occasional issue. Mostly happens overnight, quite random, and was infrequent. In the past week this has now happened several times.
The PC is left on all the time, on occasional mornings it appears to have rebooted. I find the initial screen that has failed to load. It has not got past the final screen and is clearly looking for an OS. The solution is simple. I reboot into the BIOS, open ‘hard drive priority’, this always then shows my ‘c’ drive as being the bottom of the list. I put it back to the top and reboot. End of problem.. until the next time of course. It doesn’t happen after any other deliberate reboot.
The computer reports a BSOD. I occasionally get one of these when I am playing around with TV drivers.
MY PC setup leans heavily toward Media Centre usage. This particular PC acts as storage and slave to a laptop. I have 4 hard drives fitted 2 x 2TB 1x 500 GB and the 60GB SSD. I use Microsoft essential security, and Windows firewall. Updates are automatic. Although fitted with TV tuners they are unused.
Hope I have uploaded attachemenst as I'm supposed to. PS. The 'dirty disk' has nothing to do with the issue, that's a recent issue.
Thanks
Peter
