Then my screen just went black with the same loading circle for the mouse icon. I left it for 20 mins and nothing changed. At least its a change I guess
Did you use the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall Norton?

Can you post your specs.
Looks like it might be a hardware issue, we will need the complete system specs.
In the lower left corner of any of your posts you will see 'My System Specs' at the bottom of the drop box click 'Update Your System Specs'.

Also my hard drives are connected to the motherboard via the JMicron socket on the motherboard and my CD / DVD rom drive was connected to the mother board via a Marvell 91xx socket. Possibly could explain some BSOD errors that Dave76 mentioned previously.

Better to connect all your drives to the Intel SATA connectors.

@Dave76 - I previously had my SSD hard drive which has windows installed on it connected to the Intel 6GB SATA connector and the other hard drive to a Marvel 6GB SATA connector. I then switched both of them to use Intel 3GB SATA connectors but I still have the same crashing problem

This may be due to issues with the Corsair Force 3 firmware, have you updated it recently?

Keep all your drives on the Intel controller while testing and trouble shooting.
