laptop battery overcharged?

Well I just had the first bsod from my laptop and after the reboot it got stuck -> reboot and select a proper boot drive.I checked the bios and my hard drive was still being recognized. After it I turned the laptop off I took the battery out and I turned on the laptop. The laptop would run normally. Then I ran safe mode and it worked fine and normal mode too. So I'm wondering if it's something wrong with my laptop battery or just really bad luck. I still need to run it again with the battery.

It's possible that the laptop just got hung up, and removing it from all power sources cleared up the issue. It is also possible your battery is dying and that was causing an issue. If it happens often, I'd consider testing/replacing the battery. If it doesn't, then it was probably just a fluke type of thing and you'll be fine.

As Decon said, maybe a fluke, Windows gremlins at work for which there is no clear cut reason or fix.
If your battery is a year or two old you can try calibrating it. run the laptop on battery power continuously untill it powers of. Then plug in the adapter and let it fully recharge with the machine off. If it powers off with in a few minutes on batt, that could be the problem.
I don't think it can overcharge unless there is a batt or adapter malfunction.
