Problem with Windows 7 startup and a BSOD

    Hello forum,

I use my computer quite a bit, and just yesterday morning this unusual problem occurred. When I turned on my computer, it would do its normal beep while on the screen where it says "press f2 for ...." Then as it got to the "starting windows" screen, it'd show it for just a second, before going blank. It would then go to a screen where it says "Windows error recovery" where it gave me the option to start up the recovery or start windows normally.

I tried both options, finding the first option didn't do more than get to the same screen I was on. I eventually got to the page after the recovery program ran, which said it "couldn't automatically fix the problem".

In the advanced options there were 5 options, run the repair (again), system restore, run command prompt, windows memory diagnostic, and one other option. I don't have a system restore point, and don't know of anything I could use with the command prompt, so I chose the memory diagnostic repair option. After restarting it ran the two tests, and since the tests take about 20 minutes total I would AFK. When I come back, it's my regular sign in screen where I can log in and use my computer as if it were problem free.

    HOWEVER

Now every time I shut down or restart my computer, I have to repeat the windows memory diagnostic tool to get past the "loading windows error" page. It seems I also have to run through the autorepair (even though it says it cannot repair it), every time as well or it will just restart and make me do the windows memory diagnostic again.

Yesterday was also the first time I've gotten a BSOD in a long time (long enough where I don't even recall having one on my personal system). It occurred while I was playing Left for Dead 2.

Other possible helpful information for debugging: I also have another hard drive which I can boot from without any problems and it has windows xp loaded on it. My system has been running fine since i upgraded most of its parts in 2009. I've ran a memory test with prime 95 doing the test that says "lots of RAM tested". Worked fine with no problems/errors for over an hour.

BSOD info: attached is the info for the BSOD stuff in accordance to the BSOD posting instructions.

I use Windows 7 Home Premuim 64 bit (but i have a program filesx86 folder if that means anything). It's a full retail copy I bought myself from newegg and it's been installed since mid 2009.

    Hardware:
    Processor - AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 555 Processor 3.20 GHz
RAM - 2x2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel (I only use 2 since that is what my mobo supports, seems to crash with 3 (tested))
    Graphics - Radeon HD 5770
HD - Western Digital velociraptor 300GB 10k RPM
    Mobo - ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

    Thank you for your help!

    Welcome to SF, TripleDouble.

Please redo your zip/upload. Your unzipped bsod folder shows and an executable.

Hmm, I'll try them separately then.

Nope. Are you zipping it as an executable?

You are, but there should be a folder in the zip file "Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.zip" and not just one file. When you unzip "Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.zip" on your end, do you find a folder or one file?

Something odd happened today. This morning I had to do my 20 minute windows memory diagnostic startup. Just a few minutes ago I had another BSOD. However, after booting in safe mode and not being able to do much, I decided to restart my computer and was prepared to do the ol' windows memory diagnostic. The strange thing is, it successfully loaded windows this time. I'm afraid to restart my computer AGAIN right now (and risk a 20 minute wait), but the thought of something in that BSOD that might have done something to fix my problem seems to be too much good luck.

Attached is the new info of the most recent BSOD.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also does it matter that I have Norton active? I think it might be blocking some data access, "Unauthorized access blocked (Access Process Data)"
