    Welcome aboard

As you have borrowed the DVD , is it of the same bit/version (32 or 64) of yours ? If so, boot into the DVD, and mark the 100 MB System Reserved (hidden) Partition or C partition (if the System Reserver partition is there, it is highly recommend that you mark that partition as active) active using the second method of the tutorial Partition - Mark as Active .

Now, run Startup Repair at least three separate time with restarts after every single run.

Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times .

Let us know if it stored now or not.

       Information
Boot up using the Startup Repair CD or Windows 7 DVD. (not the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk) If you have a Netbook, you will need a CD/DVD drive.
NOTE: Make sure no USB drives are plugged in.
Do not use a USB Pendrive for Startup Repair.
