System insomnia! Wakes up after 50 seconds after going to sleep.

My desktop won't stay asleep. It consistenly wakes back up after approximately 50 seconds.

This happens regardless of whether I manually select Sleep from the start menu, or if it goes to sleep on its own.

System Specs:

Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (problem also existed prior to service pack)
ASUS M3N78-VM motherboard.
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor 2.80GHz
8 GB Ram
Samsung SSD 830 Series 64GB SSD drive (boot drive)
2 SATA HDDs mirrored with onboard NVIDIA RAID
AMD Radeon HD 6950 Video Card (problem existed before this was added)

Things I've tried:

BIOS set to S3 Only (previously set to auto)
All "Power On By" options in the BIOS set to Disabled
Unplugged all USB devices (including KB/Mouse) and Network Cable
Unchecked "Allow this device to wake the computer" on Network Interface

powercfg -lastwake reports:

Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 0

All devices in Device Manager appear to have the correct device drivers. No yellow exclamations.

If anyone has troubleshooting suggestions for this, I would greatly appreciate them as I'd like to solve this problem so my computer can get a good night's rest!

Thanks!

Alan

You might want to check this tutorial for a pointer on why it is happening.

Thanks for the reply!

I checked the event log per the first article, and I have five entries that are basically the same except for the timestamps:

Code:
The system has resumed from sleep.

Sleep Time: ‎2012‎-‎01‎-‎21T15:18:12.274800000Z
Wake Time: ‎2012‎-‎01‎-‎21T15:19:23.638800000Z

Wake Source: Unknown
I had already performed the steps detailed in the second article. No luck.

Any other suggestions?

What devices do you have plugged into the computer? Do you have your network card set to not allow it to wake the computer?

Have you checked the power management settings for all the relevant hardware in device manager?

I'm thinking here of keyboard, mouse, network adapters and USB devices.

I've tested without anything plugged in besides the power cord.

I've unplugged the network cord, then I initiate sleep, and then unplug the KB/Mouse and Video.

50 seconds later it wakes up.

I've checked the KB, mouse, and network adapters. I don't have any other USB devices connected.

I've also used the command line powercfg -devicedisablewake for all devices that show up in the "wake_armed" list.

Still wakes up after 50 seconds.

You don't say what power plan you're using.

Whichever one it is, have you checked the advanced settings under Power Options?

I'm using the Balanced plan.

The "Allow wake timers" setting was originally set to "Enable" but I changed it today to see if it had any effect.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hello all, So I've only noticed this recently since I usually am on AC power. These past few days, I've been using my battery. I've noticed that when I wake it up, I can punch in my password, no problem, then when it logs on, I have a few seconds where I can see my programs (Chrome, and maybe...

GA-EP35-DS3L sleep and KVM switch wakes comp from sleep
Hi All, I have two systems a N650SLI-DS4 and a GA-EP35-DS3L hooked up to a Trednet KVM switch. If I put the GA-EP35-DS3L to sleep and switch to the N650SLI-DS4, the GA-EP35-DS3L system wakes up. The only way I have been able to keep it in sleep is if I hold the switch for the N650SLI-DS4 while...

System wakes from sleep around the same time
My recent install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit has been great except for one small problem. It wakes itself up every night around 9:30pm. I looked in the event viewer and found that the system either updates the time from the internet server or updates Media Center. Is there any workaround...
