Computer will not boot after sleep mode

Hello,

I've recently upgraded Windows XP to Windows 7, and just last night I put my computer in sleep mode. It seemed to be fine, but it acted weird, it actually completely shut off, then back on. I just thought it was a weird bug, so I just took power from it overnight.

When I tried to boot it again today, it just turned on, I can hear the fans running andich everything inside of the computer, but it seems to be not transferring to the monitor.

Also note the power button which is usually lit blue, isn't lit at all.

Is there any way I can get the computer out of sleep mode?
Note, I can't even get into anything, like the BIOS, how do I perform a hard reboot?

Thank you.

Are you on laptop or desktop?

Have you tried pulling the power source (either battery or plug from PSU) and then waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in?

I'm sorry, I'm on a desktop computer and I've tried a lot, holding in power button, waiting. Unplugging power supply.

Check all your hardware and make sure everything is connected and seated properly

I've really adjusted no hardware, the computer hasn't moved anywhere. I've seen a lot of people have issues like this, would removing my memory and then re-inserting it do anything since sleep writes all data to the memory?

Or is that too dangerous?
Thanks.

You can try reseating your memory. I don't think it will hurt anything.

Have you tried a different monitor?

Are you hearing any POST beeps from the computer?

If you computer isn't posting then it could be motherboard related.

Have you tried resetting your BIOS using the jumper on the motherboard?

Try disconnecting your hard drive and booting. If it still doesn't do anything then it is either your RAM or motherboard.

I've read around and I see a lot of people encountering issues with the Windows 7 sleep, a few on this forum but their solutions haven't really helped.

I hear no beeps, it just turns on, and then a few moments later it will shut off then re-boot and just stay on until I remove power from it. How would I go about resetting the BIOS?

There should be instructions in your user manual for the motherboard. Try disconnecting the hard drive first and see if.it posts

I figured I'd reply to this topic, the following was done:
  1. RAM was removed, and re-seated
  2. Hard drive was re-seated

Which had not work, so I removed the MOBO battery for about 20 seconds, put it back and booted and it worked.

Thought I'd post to inform all, thanks for your help mgorman87.
