Windows 7: Mysterious unnamed folder impossible to delete. 133GB.

Mysterious unnamed folder impossible to delete. 133GB.

My computer crashed a while ago so I reinstalled 7. Now I have a folder in C: that has no name and is impossible to delete. My hard drive is small and this folder literally takes up more than half of it.

The error is that I need permission from myself to delete it. I have already looked at many threads and tried to solve this but nothing works. I already have assigned permission and ownership to myself and tried deleting it from safe mode. It theoretically has data from a previous install but I can't access anything in the folder. I just want to get rid of it.

Here's some printscreens:

Yeah the folder doesn't have a name I'm not sure how that's possible.

Any ideas?

Welcome Matt to the windows 7 forums.

Of course you are logged on as administrator?

If it still can't be deleted then I could be time for a format and re-install.

There are probably some bootable CD's that might allow you to delete the folder
and it's contents. I Recommend that you search the site for linux cd's that will allow you to boot into linux and then you should be able to remove the directory.

Maybe someone else can remember the name of the bootable cd that will allow y ou to delete the directory.
Or, have you tried to boot your windows 7 original disk and the going to the repair option and dropping to the command prompt and removing the directory that way"?
