BSOD almost every time I boot my machine

Hello,

I usually have to boot my machine twice. I boot the first time, log into my (domain) account, and once windows loads, I get a BSOD. After that, if I reboot, the system works all day.

This happens if I'm bringing it out of sleep or hibernate too, but it has to be inactive for a few hours for it to give a BSOD.

I am running a Dell Latitude D620.
Windows 7 Pro 32 bit (fully licensed)
4 GB RAM
Intel T2500 2.00 GHz processor
Joined to a domain

Your crash was related to nvlddmkm.sys nVidia Display Driver.
Suggest you update to the newest one asap.
Yours is dated 11/16/2007.

Report back with the results after testing please.

Is driver scanner legit? Or was that an automatic ad placement?

I've tried updating my driver a few times now, but I'm getting an error saying "the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible..."

I'm thinking this is because of upgrading to Windows 7, and I'm not sure how to work around this issue.

Anyone know what I can do?

I've tried to install this driver using this method, but I get a window that pops up saying Windows has determined that the most current driver is already installed.

I can't find a Vista driver on the dell website either.

I'm not really sure what I should do now...

1. Download the Vista driver for your display card
2. Click Start Menu
3. Right Click My Computer/Computer
4. Click Manage
5. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
6. Expand Display adapters
7. Do the following for the adapter
   
   • Right click the adapter
   • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
   • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
8. Restart your computer after uninstalling the driver for the display card
9. Install the Vista driver for the display card once Windows starts by right clicking the executable, clicking properties, clicking the Compatibility tab, putting a tick to Run this program in compatibility mode for, Windows Vista

2. Download the Vista driver for your display card
3. Click Start Menu
4. Click Control Panel
5. Click Hardware and Sound

   • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)

The link was to a x64 driver, but I was able to get the x86 version and download it.

The driver installed, so I guess I'll see if I get any more BSODs.

Oh yeah, sorry, forgot you were running a 32-bit machine. Glad you were able to sort it out. See how the stability is from here on.
