When I go to the ASUS driver download for my board model (A8N5x) and download the files and then run them i get errors such as "motherboard not found" and "NT something or another error."
This brings up a question I asked a while back about you guys giving me a link to ASUS P7P55D LE instead of the model I have which is A8N5X. Should I be using the drivers for the P7P55D LE instead of A8N5X?

The reason you were directed to get the utility for the ASUS P7P55D LE is it has Windows 7 support. The utility is different than the actual hardware, so it is not as important that you get it for your board. The hardware drivers you will want to get for your board, but you may have to install using the steps in Drivers - Install Vista Drivers on Windows 7 since your board only supports Vista as the latest OS.

Well, I'm having no luck at all finding a version of Nvmpu401.sys of that is newer than 4/13/2005. Could someone maybe point me at where in the Asus P7P55D LE page I might find what I'm looking for?

You will need to know which version, but Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers is a good place to start looking.

It looks like you may be stuck with the old drivers for that one, though. I do not see anything for that particular device type past 2006, so 2005 may be the latest for your device. What happens if you uninstall and delete the driver (or rename it to Nvmpu401.sys.bak) from C:\Windows\System32\Drivers? Does Windows find an appropriate driver for it?

Make sure you uninstall the driver and then delete in that order.

I renamed the driver and apparently Windows doesn't miss it. Now we'll have to just wait and see what happens. If this continues I just might go back to XP.

Do you have the latest version of firefox? The previous version caused instability on some systems that the newest version is supposed to fix.

    Code:
    ASACPI	92f7b000	92f7c420	Thu Aug 12 20:52:52 2004 (411c2d04)	00004aa7 ASACPI.sys
Older versions of ASACPI.SYS are a known BSOD problem on Windows 7. Update the driver by:
    1. Going to the Asus motherboard support site
      When you reach the website:
    2. Scroll down the page and click Utilities
    3. Hold Ctrl and press f (ctrl+f) to enter the browser's find feature
    4. Search for "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit" (without quotes)
    5. Download and install the driver.
    6. After installation is complete, verify that it installed correctly.
      • Click Start Menu
      • Click My Computer
      • Go to C:\WIndows\System32\drivers\
      • Verify that the ASACPI.SYS file is dated 2009 or newer (2010,etc.)

Thanks to JMH and zigzag3143 for the above information.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

I'm on version 10.0. "About Firefox" tells me I'm up to date.

Did you run through the steps to update ASACPI and do the memtest86+ to test your RAM?
