    T420S random BSOD's

Hi there, im getting BSOD almost once a day, when im on youtube, in word or just doing nothing.
I Just reinstalled windows 7 twice, since I had like 30 BSOD over a period of 4 months, but I just figured back then, that I had played with something I shouldn't have done.

Well I still get BSOD after my second fresh win7 install and as far I can see it has something to do with ntoskrnl.exe, but im rly not an expert.

Hi MVJ and welcome to SF
Well I still get BSOD after my second fresh Windows 7 install and as far I can see it has something to do with ntoskrnl.exe
those Windows components are almost never the culprit. They get named because they're the last link in the chain (so to speak)
2 of your crashes are attributed to graphics drivers. One on an Intel driver (probably the on board GFX)
    Code:
    igdkmd64.sys Mon Sep 26 05:40:22 2011 (4E804886)
, the other one on the NVidea driver
    Code:
    nvlddmkm.sys Fri Aug 12 06:55:35 2011 (4E4506A7)
    .

I would update those first, depending on what you're actually using (you're not using both are you?)

    Intel
    or

    NVIDEA

Another big problem is your installation of Daemon Tools it uses a resident driver that's notorious for causing BSODs
You should uninstall it after this tut: DuplexSecure - FAQ
And use one of the following programs instead:

    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview
    SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive
Gizmo Central -- Enliven your PC

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
    Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 0000000000000000, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: 0000000000000000, Parameter 0 of the exception
    Arg4: 0000000000000000, Parameter 1 of the exception

    Thx DG!

    Code:
you're not using both are you?
Well in device manager i have the following, sry for only posting the intel(R).. :

    intel(r) HD graphics family
    nvidia nvs 4200m

As far as i know it has something to do with, when im doing stuff that doesn't need the nvidia 4200m, it will use the intel, cause it will save some power - something like that?

When I look it up on lenovo driver site:
Intel: Intel HD Graphics Driver (Integrated) for Windows 7 (64-bit), Vista (64-bit) - ThinkPad
Nvidia: NVIDIA NVS 4200M, Quadro 1000M, Quadro 2000M (Optimus) Display Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad

Edit: seems as both drivers are up to date.
And I installed daemon after the 3 first BSOD, so i doubt it was that?

But uninstalled daemon now, though i don't understand:

    Code:
    after this tut:
Sry but what does "tut" mean+? downloaded the SPTDinstall for 64bit, but it wants to install not remove.

tut means tutorial but if the download won't find anything to remove just forget about that.

As for the GFX drivers it wasn't about weather they are actual or not rather than maybe replacing a driver that might have become corrupted. (and since the crashed drivers were the only clearly identifiable source that was the easiest way to get this sorted out.)
The next step would be checking your RAM. Please follow those instructions:
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I've done the MemTest86+, prime95, Unigine heaven dx11 + the tests in thinkvantage toolbox before I made the thread on the forum. I got no errors while doing does tests.

I found a problem with my bluetooth, which i fixed just after making the thread, haven't had any bsod since. But ill update the gfx driver, just to be sure.

    Thx!

That's good! Thanks for the feedback!
Does your bluetooth device do anything involving said graphics drivers?

Just another idea: if the crashes only involves youtube stuff there is always a chance of a faulty/corrupted Flash installation.
In that case I would test the matter with a portable chrome version (they come with/use their own flash installation)

No i don't think my bluetooth has anything to do with my gfx, but it wasn't my gfx that made all the BSOD's was it?

I had to reinstall my bluetooth driver to get it working, but it works now.

I found an update for my 4200m gfx driver, so that's updated aswell.

Well I got BSOD's in all kinds of random situations, not only when I was on youtube, so ill take a look at that later?

For now im waiting for a fresh BSOD, since they used to happen rly often, but it's been a while since my last one :)

Apparently 2 of your 5 dumps blame the gfx drivers, that's 40%. That's why I went that route . You're right, for now use the machine and see if it crashes again. If so, the next step would be using driver verifyer to possibly flush out the real culprit.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Just understand if there is a driver to blame the computer will crash and hopefully name the real culprit in the dump files.
If the computer didn't crash after 24hrs, disable driver verifyer otherwise please upload a new jcgriff2 report and we'll take it from there.

    I'll do that :)
Still no BSOD, so it's looking good so far.

    Thx for the help!

If nothing happens over the weekend, I'll mark it as solved :)
