Some issues we've noted with the Asus P5 series of motherboards:
Quote:
FWIW - I've seen a lot of issues with the Asus P5 series of boards. I usually recommend this:
- DO NOT use the AUTO setting for memory. Go to the RAM manufacturer's website and get the recommended settings for the RAM. Then set those settings manually in the BIOS
- one person with a 2009 BIOS has experienced success by updating the BIOS. This is dangerous and one simple mistake can easily damage your motherboard so it won't work. Be VERY, VERY CAREFUL!!!
- one person reports bad caps (
http://http://www.badcaps.net/pages.php?vid=5 ) in this post:
[SOLVED] Bad overclock and now can't load windows 7 - Tech Support Forum perfmon reports that your Intel High Definition Audio Controller and your nVidia High Definition Audio Controller are disabled.
Please either remove the devices from your system, disable it in the BIOS, or enable it-update it's drivers-then disable it again.
Drivers for the Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver aren't installed. This is a known cause of BSOD's and must be installed (BUT...the 2004/2005 versions cause BSOD's - so you'll need a later version)
You can download it from here (it's in the Utility section):
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q PRO
Only 42 updates since SP1 - most systems have 70 or more after SP1. Please visit Windows Update and get all available updates.
Your AsIO.sys driver dates from 2007. It belongs to the Asus PCProbe program.
Please update the program from the Asus download website that I linked to above.
Memory dumps blame your networking drivers - but I also suspect your Kaspersky Internet Security due to it's presence in the dumps.
Please replace the driver for your Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller(NDIS6.20) by doing this:
- download a fresh copy from the Asus website
- uninstall the current copy from your system
- install the freshly downloaded copy
Also, please do this to see if it's the Kaspersky:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes:
Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the antivirus software from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of the antivirus software using one of these free tools:
Antivirus Uninstallers
-
IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.
